Why you should have your fabric couches cleaned regularly

Regular cleaning & maintenance is recommended by all manufacturers and makes a perfect result more likely as any marks will not have time to set. If your fabric contains natural fiber then it is vital to ensure it is cleaned before it looks really dirty.

Cleaning is often attempted long after what would have been ideal. Oily and sugary residues from skin, pets, food etc accumulate over time on fabric. This attracts particulate soil which wears away at fibres and accelerates deterioration and yellowing of the fabric. Once past a certain point soiling accelerates dramatically until suddenly the couch looks very drab. At this point it will depend on fabric type and if it was previously protected with a quality product as to whether the couch can be restored. 

Leather Sofas & Couches

• Aniline - is very expensive, feels beautiful, looks amazing.. Aniline leather is open and porous so has no built-in protection against spills and oil from skin contact. Ideally it should be protected from new which does not impact appearance or feel but dramatically improves cleaning response
   
• Top coated  - finished with a very thin coat of polyurethene. It's important this layer is not breached or you will get rapid wear, staining and cracking.

Why you should have your leather couches cleaned regularly

Regular cleaning of skin contact areas is important to stop the finish breaking down. As in fabric, significant build up of soil will accelerate wear.
 
Care kits are often sold with your purchase of a leather couch or sofa. These care kits are for regular maintenance of the main skin contact areas. If the leather is visibly soiled it’s a job for a professional.

When cleaning leather we start by dismantling the couch as far as possible and vacuuming all the crevices, decking, underneath etc. The leather is then carefully hand cleaned and dried. A suitable conditioner & protector is then applied, which is included in the cost of the clean.
